GROG WHO?? The blurb...
We are an independent Wine Merchant in Edinburgh (Internet/Warehouse/Wholesale/Retail/Wine Bar/Educators), established in the last century (1999!).
We peddle the thrifty... to the rare & ultimate drinking experience.
We flog grog that we, as practised drinkers, like to glug, at the price we would like to glug it at. Much as we all love Tesco (supermarkets have 70+% of the UK wine market)
.....I'm sure there is still room for a small one!
As much as is humanly possible, our wines are exclusive, artisan, direct-shipped & damn tasty. We don't do "Big Brands".
We deliver your wine via our own dashing, handsome van drivers (photos below) or use a "next day" courier for further afield .
Your order will be dealt with by one of our vaguely efficient team (....not photogenic, but not anonymous either).
ALL case deliveries are FREE (Mainland UK).
If you fancy popping in to browse & COLLECT your wine then you are very welcome to visit us in our wine warehouse (FREE CAR PARKING)..or visit our wine shop (see above)
If you would like to get a current list posted to you, then please e-mail or phone or carrier pidgeon & we will be delighted to oblige.

*To be the first to know of Great Grog Offers & Events, e-mail me and we'll add you to the e-mailing list - only Grog circulars will be sent & we WON'T give your address to anyone else
Richard Meadows - life before Grog
Set up Grog in '99 after having worked for Oddbins for 10 years, latterly in Edinburgh as a branch manager and staff "Product" Trainer.
R has the wset Diploma and has done the first year of the Master of Wine course.
He is also a wset Approved Tutor. An very keen drinker (& taster too) with a fondness for
(almost) anything tasty made from grapes...& a weakness for Champagne!
Richard has what is termed in the trade a "commercial" palate ie. he likes what most people like. His redness of complexion is a trick of the camera.
Janice - life before Grog
Behind every great man there’s a great woman. If it wasn‘t for Janice the rest of us would have no wine to sell, no money,
no fuel to put in the vans, no vans to put fuel in and so on and so forth. Has been known to sit down for a sandwich once, (always on the move!).
Simon - life before Grog
A ridiculously chirpy Teesider who was formerly known as an artist.
Simon loves a drop of wine most minutes and tends to know slightly more about what he’s drinking than the people who made it.
He can pontificate at length on many things (including wine, art, bikes, mountains, Middlesborough, Ridley Scott)..
Heather - life before Grog
A tactical drinker (she likes to plan her drinking out loud) with a taste for the finer things in life.
Rumoured to be an excellent cook too... (hint hint)
She changes her glasses according to her mood.
"Southside Red" - life before Grog
Red (a.k.a. Ian) was Oddbins' "Van Rouge" in Edinburgh for 10 years until scuttling
up the ladder to join us. Red has his "Intermediate" wine exam but his road knowledge is truly Encyclopaedic.
Likes to pretend he’s Neil Young and his blood is made from 100% Chardonnay. He plays groovy live sets in the Grog Bar from time to tiime.
Gary - life before Grog
Sleek, silent and stealthy like Keyser Soze. Highly organised and efficient. If you look at him for too long you turn into a goat.
Has a morbid fear of staircases (like all delivery folk).
Mat - life before Grog
Mat hails from Sheffield but we won't hold that against him (nor his love of tyres). He ran the "Oddies" in Newcastle
for aeons until insanity drove him even further North (he thought it would be warmer in Edinburgh). Mat has his "Higher" wine exam. He is also in charge of web-photos so can only blame himself for this likeness..
"Chris" - life before Grog
Big bloke, beard (sometimes). Can carry 8 cases of wine at once and has played rugby for the Indian national team. Don’t dare call him ugly.
Dave has a degree in Geophysics so is probably the most overqualified van driver on the planet. Not quite as hairy in the flesh as his picture would suggest..His real picture can be found on the
india rugby website. Dave disappears for a month's snow surfing every year (a hard life)..
"John" - life before Grog General Sales Bod, A thinking man's man. Only does three days a week so he can spend time thinking whilst doing DIY on his yacht in Monaco.
